Martin Berkeley BSc, BA (Hons), IMC, Chartered MCSI

Martin has acted in excess of over 100 financial mis-selling cases for both Claimants and Defendants as single or joint expert, in matters relating to investments, wealth management, banking derivatives and regulation, advising some of the UK’s leading solicitors, barristers and QCs. He also holds the Cardiff University Law School/Bond Solon Civil Expert Witness Certificate.

Martin is a Chartered Member of the Investment and Securities Institute and has additional qualifications in financial derivatives and investment management. He is completing an LLM in International Financial Regulation, and his thesis focuses on financial advice and suitability.

Martin has worked as a Private Banker providing financial and investment advice to both High Net Worth, Offshore, UK resident, Non-Resident and Resident Non-Domiciled Clients. He has traded many foreign currencies (Spot, Forward and Options) when working in the Treasury department of a major bank and is retained as a consultant to Vedanta Hedging Ltd. He also established the investment proposition for IFAs (Independent Financial Advisors) for a leading stockbroking and investment firm. Martin is an invited lecturer at the University of Louisiana, USA on Finance & Ethics, an MBA Financial Markets course lecturer at Manchester Business School and lecturer on financial mis-selling at Central Law Training and sits on the investment committee of an educational charity. Martin holds current Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Authorisation and regularly provides commentary, training and advice to the media, government and regulatory bodies on related financial issues. He continues to advise businesses, charities and individuals on finance related issues in independent practice.

Martin was named as derivatives and financial services expert of the year in 2016.
